when my parents said I was too skinny and need to eat

I laughed at them and purged my lunch and skipped dinner

when my parents said I had gained weight and neet to diet

I laughed at them and stuffed more brownies into my mouth

I just feel like this entire thing is a way for me to rebel against my parents while it’s slowly killing me from the inside

so I rewarded myself with a slice of pound cake after my successful afternoon run

but i felt full halfway and decided to give the rest to my mom

and now I feel really good for not finishing the cake

howtobebulimic:

March 1 is Self Injury Awareness Day.

Many people who hurt themselves on purpose start doing it when they’re young. Some of them are lucky in that they also stop it when they’re young — they get the right help, their situation changes, or they find other coping mechanisms — and never even think of doing it again.

But some people — myself included — develop an addiction. Like an eating disorder or like alcoholism, the people who get addicted to hurting themselves are going to be addicted forever. Their struggle is in the present tense for the rest of their lives, even if they manage to abstain from the harmful behaviour for years and years and years, even for the rest of their lives.

Self injury can happen to anyone at any time, and it can last for decades. It’s not the ‘teen problem’. It’s an everyone problem.

If you know someone who has self-harmed, whether it was twenty years or twenty minutes ago, give them a hug today, because either way they are someone who has been to a dark and terrible place in their heads at some point in their lives, and they deserve to know that they are loved.

And if you are someone who has self-harmed, know that I wish you all the strength, compassion, and self-love that you need. It sucks, and I know it sucks, but you are stronger than it. Maybe not every second of every day, but in the end: you are stronger than the dark. I promise.
